Can you believe we are reaching the end of September? It feels like we are travelling through the year at light speed!
Progress on the books
The number of tables written and designed for our Sci-Fi Toolkits continues to grow every day. Recently we’ve been working on Mutated Monsters, Bounty Hunter Origins and Goals, Spaceship Features and more!
Here’s a look at a few of the Encounters pages from The Game Master's Sci-Fi Toolkit. Every environment covered in the Travel and Encounters chapter comes with 12 events to enrich in-game travel, as well as 8 detailed location descriptions to read out to your players (or inspire your world building).
Creative work will continue until the end of the year as planned, before we move into the period of internal review and proofreading. Now we have locked orders and have confirmed volumes, we will begin sourcing and assessing early physical samples. This is always a really exciting stage of the project, so we’ll be sure to share images of samples as and when we receive them.

One of the rewards on offer with this campaign is an 8-page pamphlet guide to an original alien planet, featuring descriptions of its geography, history, population and key locations. That means you'll be armed with everything you need to know to set an adventure on the strange, overgrown world of Lelantos. The briefing document features everything from the planet's current leader to its flora and fauna.

Earlier this month, we launched a new fantasy RPG project! One-Shot Wonders contains over 100 session ideas for your next one-shot or side quest. Everything a GM needs is covered in two pages or less, from key plot points, important NPCs, locations, levelling guides and more. We’ve already been able to unlock multiple stretch goals beyond our original funding target, which is amazing! August Campaign Log: Locking Orders

Hi everyone,
August is drawing to an end, which means it is time for another monthly update from Roll & Play mission control! While creative work is ongoing, we are starting to look ahead to the next steps of production and fulfilment:
Creative Progress
Work has been continuing on The Game Master's Sci-Fi Toolkit and The Sci-Fi Character Kit. We've spent some time refining the table of contents to ensure we're covering everything you need to run your sci-fi games – from restricted areas with unsettling secrets to intergalactic pop stars! We're pleased to report that we have now created over 70% of the random tables for both books, which aligns nicely with our original schedule for this project.
The add-ons are coming along well, too! The embroidered patch, tabletop tracks, character cards, planet briefing document, bookmarks, battle maps, art bundles and plot hook cards are all written and designed. We're still writing the spaceship specifications, these will be moved onto layouts as soon as we're done. All the add-ons will be sent to our proofreaders at the same time as the random table books to ensure consistency across the project.
Everything is on track, hooray! So, our estimated fulfilment date of March 2023 remains unchanged.
Locking Orders
We will be locking orders for this project on Monday 5th September. After this point, you won't be able to make any changes to your pledge rewards. If you can’t access your survey, or have misplaced the original pledge management email, you can generate a new pledge manager here.
Charging Cards
Cards will be charged shortly after orders are locked on Monday 5th September. You will be charged for any items you added in the pledge manager, as well as the price of shipping your pledge.
Please make sure that the cards you have saved on your pledge manager have not expired and have the amounts needed on them before this date, so there aren't any issues. If there are problems with taking payment, you will be alerted by BackerKit, and they will try again a couple of days afterwards.
(NOTE:If you chose the PayPal payment method in your pledge manager, payment was taken immediately after you completed your pledge manager, and you will not be charged on Monday 5th September.)
Locking Addresses
You won't be able to change your pledge rewards after 5th September, but you will be able to change your address for a little while longer. So, if you're moving house soon, don't worry!
We'll post another update with a warning before we lock addresses (approx Jan 2023), so you can make sure your address is correct for shipping. Alternatively, if you aren't sure of your future address, we would recommend updating your pledge manager to a friend or family member's address so that your package isn't lost.

I hope you're doing great!
We're moving full steam ahead on The Game Master's Sci-Fi Toolkit and The Sci-Fi Character Kit, but this month I want to draw your attention to one of our awesome add-ons, the Spaceship Specifications! These five cards feature a range of ships that you can add to your universe with ease. Each card includes an illustration, key specs with internal floorplans and a description of the vessel’s special features. You've all seen The Gullet on the campaign page, now here's a preview of two more ships.

Recovery Bird (R3-CVR)
Explorers, mountaineers and sailors can breathe a sigh of relief when they hear the whistling engines of a R3-CVR rescue vehicle. That's assuming they have the credits to pay the hefty recovery fee, of course. There's lots you could do with this vehicle, here are some ideas:
Can the party extract rare creatures from a burning safari park before it's too late?
Will the players take part in illegal Recovery Bird street racing on a casino planet?
Is the party able to earn some extra credits by working as a part-time search and rescue team?

The GM's Sci-Fi Toolkit
As we gave you a sneak peek of The Sci-Fi Character Kit last month, we thought it only right to showcase TheGame Master's Sci-Fi Toolkit this month. This book has five chapters designed to help GMs with world-building and improvising at the tabletop. These cover:
Crew and Missions - including names and organisations; behaviour and appearances; mission objectives; spaceship features and descriptions; A.I. system generators and more.
Universe Expansion - world-building details such as planet population, cultures, governance and resources; public broadcasts and top-secret intel; bounty notices; key location descriptions; futuristic food and drink, ideas for shore-leave activities and more.
